| obama won. i cant even put into words how this makes me feel. the emotions that im feeling are insane. it doesnt even make sense or truly register, the immensity of this event. it honestly feels like a weight has been lifted. like a new day is here. i never thought we would have a black president. i never felt like we'd have a president that i kind of cared about. the insanity that i experienced on the streets of nyc, around union square and angels and kings, it was just madness. everyone on earth seemed to have been ignited. it was electric, and it transmitted like a disease. and im an anarchist, so ultimately i dont believe it really changes anything, or makes a difference. but as someone who grew up in this system, and this culture, its still insane to think about a black president. and it was just surreal to see that many people give a shit. as fucked as everything is, and it is fucked, and i want it all to burn...this is kind of cool. this is a remember where you were moment. and i will always remember. i was eating with my friend danielle at red bamboo when this dude runs in and says 'he did it! he got 281 electoral votes'. it just didnt seem possible. then people started running down the street, with pots and pans clanging, and shouting and chanting. just getting caught up in that, even if its total bullshit, and totally false hope and nothing will change, it was a great night either way. im glad i was a part of it. but this whole thing still needs to come down. civicide. the cities will burn, and the natural world will grow back. knowing that it is still here, and will be for a while longer, not for a lack of alot of good people fighting back, it is refreshing to see this. and it is important to do what you can with what we have. voting for one of two pieces of fabric from the same cloth of civilization isnt doing much....if anything. but the things that do really affect people; the laws and social restrictions and choices that get taken every year...it is worth voting to protect what we can of those within this shit. i think so, at least. i just dont know sometimes. it feels so hopeless at times. but i know i didnt want sarah palin. that much i knew. xprofessionalx [source] | |

| November 06, 2008 – NopeContrary to a common misconception, my upcoming short film, "The Moustachette," as the name may suggest has absolutely nothing to do with penguins. Some joker's been spreading the word on the internet that it's apparently about penguins and the arctic. Which would be an interesting short film. Someone should make that. I however, did not. I made a film that is a sarcastic comedy about art and the artless life. If focuses on two best friends who really shouldn't be. It's somewhat similar in theme to Fall Out Boy's new record "Folie a Deux," thought this is by coincidence. It is in no way remotely autobiographical and it's supposed to be funny, so if you see it and don't laugh then I guess it's a bad movie haha. Anyway, I'm approving a final cut within the next week or so and if it comes out right I'll let you know about when and where it will premiere. After making a film about modern art, I decided to be the type of asshole who attempts to paint as well...I've painted my first painting. That's not really news since it's bad haha. But whatever, I enjoyed it so I'll be painting a little in my free time. -p.stump [source] | |

| No predicting Fall Out Boy By Sarah RodmanGlobe Staff / November 7, 2008 When rock bands achieve arena-level fame members often lament the good old days in the clubs, where they were able to get within sweating, interactive distance of the fans. And yet, often when those same groups embark on back-to-our-roots tours they simply shrink the big, shiny show down to fit the small, dingy space. Not Fall Out Boy. The only thing that was slick about the Chicago quartet's surprise 95-minute show last night at Harpers Ferry were the spots on the floor covered in beer. Taking advantage of the proximity of the sold-out crowd, FOB gave the kind of early-stuff embracing, canned-banter-jettisoning performance that message board haunters obsess about. The night began with a spirited "Thanks Fr Th Mmrs," setting the sing-along template. (Sometimes the room sounded more like a slumber party than a rock concert, even though the gender split was pretty equal). Opening with a recent big hit was pretty much where predictability ended. Bassist Pete Wentz announced that the band would create its set list via raised hand requests, and that's what it did, careening around its catalog of sugar metal anthems with a manic anything-goes energy. That meant the playing was sometimes sloppy - the band quit one tune in mid-chorus because the members were in different keys - and the momentum was inconsistent. But the giddy sense that the crowd was getting a custom, not-to-be-repeated performance held immense appeal. In between the burly riffs and avalanches of verbiage on songs like "Grand Theft Autumn," Wentz told tales from his wedding to his "baby mama" Ashlee Simpson, and lead singer Patrick Stump explained his trademark stage reticence - an early bout of unfortunate monologue. It was sometimes exhilarating - the hard shove into a soft landing that was "A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More 'Touch Me,' " and sometimes tedious - waiting on requests - and the sound mix was often, frankly, miserable. But it wasn't the same old thing, and Fall Out Boy deserves points for that. Oddly one thing the group didn't do was offer much of a sneak peek of its forthcoming album, "Folie a Deux," out Dec. 16. But the one song they did play, current single "I Don't Care," featured a refreshingly unexpected John Lee Hooker groove that held a down and dirty promise. [source] | |

| This ain’t a scene, it’s a super-secret Fall Out Boy showMichael Marotta By Michael Marotta / Music Friday, November 7, 2008 - Updated 7h ago A gang of Fall Out Boy fans played hooky from school, bailed out of work and road tripped to Boston yesterday to take a shot at seeing Pete Wentz & Co. at Harpers Ferry. The Chicago emo-rock band’s intimate show at the 400-person club drew fans to the streets of Allston as early as 5 a.m. But because the venue prohibited early arrivals from lining up until 3 p.m. - just three hours before doors opened and five hours before Fall Out Boy’s performance - hundreds of fans were forced to wait across the street, packing convenience stores, burrito dens and pizza joints. With Fall Out Boy accustomed to selling out arenas, the unique four-date club mini-tour to preview the upcoming album “Folie A Deux” drew fans from near and far. Click to learn more... “I drove up from New York,” said Ali Szubiak, 20. “This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.” Maly Dy, 19, drove up from Virginia. “We left right after work last night,” she said. “It was far, my butt hurts, and I slept for like 20 minutes. We got here around 10 this morning. But it’s fun making new friends.” Thirteen-year-old Jordan Fowler skipped school in Marblehead with her older sister Lauren, who served as chaperone. But what if the sisters couldn’t get in? “I’d cry,” Jordan said. Big sis Lauren had a better idea. “I’d just say let’s go shopping instead. I’ve already seen Fall Out Boy twice.” [source] | |
