Is Fall Out Boy bringing back punk and hardcore?

Could Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance be helping to give popularity to underground bands? The L.A. Times music blog speculates that a bizarre resurgence in hardcore and mid-'90s-style punk rock can be attributed to larger bands name-dropping their smaller contemporaries.
