FALL OUT BOY - FALL OUT BOY PLAN CUT PRICE TOUR

Rockers FALL OUT BOY have vowed to keep ticket prices low for their new tour so cash-strapped fans can still catch them live. As a result of the current global recession, band members have vowed to keep costs as low as possible so tickets to see them perform never exceed $30 (£20).
But frontman Patrick Stump warns the cut-price roadshow will lack the fizz and bang of their previous concerts - because they'll be forced to buy cheaper fireworks.

Stump says, "We're trying to maintain a low ticket price. It amounts to how much pyro we use.
"We shoot for a max of, like, 30 bucks."

The band start their tour in the UK in March (09). The U.S. leg kicks off in Arizona in April (09).

Fall Out Boy returns home to celebrate their new release at The Chicago Theatre

Suburban hometown heroes Fall Out Boy are heading home next month to celebrate the release of their new album Folie à Deux. The band is partnering up with Fuse TV for a December 2nd concert at The Chicago Theatre, which Fuse will tape and premier December 16th at 9:00 PM EST to coincide with the release of Fall Out Boy's album earlier that day.

Folie à Deux is the follow up to their 2007 release Infinity on High, which sold to date 1.3 million copies worldwide. I'm not a math whiz, but that adds up to a lot of skinny jeans and eye liner, and is pretty impressive for a band that started as a side project fueled by teenage mall rat angst.

The new album promises a few surprise guest, including the confirmed inclusion of Elvis Costello on one of the new tracks, making this a collaboration of two bands I wouldn't have thought I would ever mention in the same breath.

Fall Out Boy has consistently released a stream of sugary pop punk tracks that although sometime sophomoric in their nature, always possess the qualities of a hit. I sometimes find a FOB track sneaking up on my car stereo, and you can't help wanting to belt along with the earnest vocals of Patrick Stump and feel like a pop punk kid all over again.

Relive some youthful exuberance and welcome the hometown boys back to Chicago on December 2nd at The Chicago Theatre. Select tickets go on sale at Friday November 28 at 10:00 AM for $10 via Ticketmaster. There will be a two ticket minimum/maximum per order. The majority of tickets will be available at The Chicago Theater box office only on the day of the show on a first come, first serve basis.

This ain’t a scene, it’s a super-secret Fall Out Boy show
Michael Marotta By Michael Marotta / Music
Friday, November 7, 2008 - Updated 7h ago

A gang of Fall Out Boy fans played hooky from school, bailed out of work and road tripped to Boston yesterday to take a shot at seeing Pete Wentz & Co. at Harpers Ferry.

The Chicago emo-rock band’s intimate show at the 400-person club drew fans to the streets of Allston as early as 5 a.m. But because the venue prohibited early arrivals from lining up until 3 p.m. - just three hours before doors opened and five hours before Fall Out Boy’s performance - hundreds of fans were forced to wait across the street, packing convenience stores, burrito dens and pizza joints.

With Fall Out Boy accustomed to selling out arenas, the unique four-date club mini-tour to preview the upcoming album “Folie A Deux” drew fans from near and far.

“I drove up from New York,” said Ali Szubiak, 20. “This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Maly Dy, 19, drove up from Virginia.

“We left right after work last night,” she said. “It was far, my butt hurts, and I slept for like 20 minutes. We got here around 10 this morning. But it’s fun making new friends.”

Thirteen-year-old Jordan Fowler skipped school in Marblehead with her older sister Lauren, who served as chaperone. But what if the sisters couldn’t get in?

“I’d cry,” Jordan said.

Big sis Lauren had a better idea.

“I’d just say let’s go shopping instead. I’ve already seen Fall Out Boy twice.”

Fall Out Boy secret show review!

Our friends Crystal Lee, Dan Polyak and Kelsey Brown covered the secret Fall Out Boy show & when they played the Nike Human Race event for us...here's what they had to say.

Story – Crystal Lee & Dan Polyak

On the morning of August 31st the band "60xxx" was playing for the Overcast Kids (Fall Out Boy fan club). Most were unsure who "60xxx" was. That afternoon fans walked into Angels and Kings bar and saw a Fall Out Boy banner hanging as the backdrop, the same one as in the Dead On Arrival music video. Fans that had been waiting there since 8 am were crammed into the bar; only 86 OCK’s plus one guest were allowed in. Fall Out Boy played a set of songs released prior to From Under the Cork Tree as well as their new single "I Don't Care" off their upcoming fall release Folie a Deux. During their set the band called themselves "boner party" and said they were from 2002. "Let's go back to 2002, no one has camera phones because they're expensive..." said Pete Wentz.

"You can take pictures, just enjoy yourself too," replied Patrick Stump.

The surrounding was reminiscent of a Fall Out Boy show played at Knights of Columbus or the Fireside Bowl.

That night the band also performed for the Nike 10K Run. In a press conference prior to their performance we asked, "What can we expect from the new record as far as production and guest appearances?"

"We decided to work with the same producer as our last two CDs because it was natural and just flowed" and that "There would be songs with an insane amount of instruments,” said Pete Wentz.

"We used over 100 [instruments]," said Joe Trohman.

The band played a set consisting mostly of songs from Infinity On High, their cover of Beat It, and a couple old ones for a crowd that had just ran the 10k race for a foundation of their choice. The fans met the barricade at the end of their run; some of them there since 8 am as well. The stage was set on Chicago's famous Soldier Field and fans of the band volunteered to support the Nike Company and see the show. The crowd was relaxed and the weather was awesome. Fall Out Boy proved that whether it was a small capacity venue or a football field they could give their fans a great time.

"We got involved with the race because it was in Chicago and we wanted to play in our hometown,” Patrick Stump said.

"Which is the biggest Nike 10k race in the US," added Pete Wentz.

Fall Out Boy bears a racers-only show
By Andy Downing | Special to the Chicago Tribune

Back when Fall Out Boy was playing for packed houses at the now-defunct Fireside Bowl, it's likely the band dreamed of one day performing for a screaming audience inside the cavernous confines of Soldier Field.

Sunday evening, that dream finally came true. Somewhat.

The quartet, which formed in Wilmette in 2001, was one of a handful of acts recruited by an athletic apparel company to perform at select locations across the globe to cap its Human Race, a 10K run in 25 cities. (Other performers included Moby in London and local export Kanye West in Los Angeles.) So instead of playing to a raucous full house, Fall Out Boy was reduced to going through the motions during a 50-minute set for 6,000 or so exhausted runners.

With singer-guitarist Patrick Stump glued to his microphone stand, bassist Pete Wentz and guitarist Joe Trohman were free to swing and twirl around the frontman like tetherballs. Trohman, with his Sideshow Bob mop of curls, was a constant revelation, lacing "Sugar, We're Going Down" with metal licks that landed like mini-bunker busters—doubly impressive considering the empty venue's muddied acoustics.

The setting was ripe for "Spinal Tap" moments, a feeling that dominated a bizarre 10-minute news conference in the bowels of the stadium before showtime. (A question about their workout habits, for one, was met largely with puzzled looks.) Wentz did briefly discuss the band's forthcoming third album, "Folie a Deux," noting that its title is French for "the shared madness of two."

"It's when one person's psychosis becomes the other person's psychosis," he said. "Like 'Romeo and Juliet.' "

But anyone hoping to hear any of the new material likely left disappointed. The band performed only a 30-second snippet of its forthcoming single, "I Don't Care," hardly enough to constitute a ring tone. The rest of the set was filled out with fan favorites, including a sparse "Dance, Dance" and a riff-heavy "Thriller" that the band dedicated to another famous runner, Walter Payton.

John Legend performs at the Democratic convention
By RYAN PEARSON

After CNN aired a live performance of Legend's new song, "If You're Out There," from the floor of the Democratic National Convention, Blitzer promised to continue to interrupt the network's reporting or analysis for musical acts as good as Legend.

Legend was the most visible of the entertainers who flowed into Denver for the convention, which opened Monday. A choir backed him for the song that fits neatly with Barack Obama's campaign themes.

"We've been looking for the world to change," Legend sang. "If you're out there, sing along with me. Stand up and say it loud. Tomorrow's starting now."

Among other celebrities spotted on the first day of the convention:

_ Danny Glover, wearing a jacket over a Martin Luther King Jr. shirt, who talked about unions at a Creative Coalition event.

_ Kal Penn of the "Harold & Kumar" movies and the TV series "House," who worked for a good part of the day as a "delegate whip."

_ Cyndi Lauper was interviewed on the convention floor.

_ Spike Lee arrived at the VIP section of the Pepsi Center just before the first-night prime-time convention slot.

_ A short while later, the Creative Coalition delegation arrived, with Alan Cumming wearing a brown Obama shirt and Susan Sarandon sporting an Obama button. Also at the Pepsi Center after a day of Creative Coalition luncheons and gatherings: Anne Hathaway, Cumming, Tim Daly, Rachael Leigh Cook and Josh Lucas.

_ Robert Randolph & The Family Band and The Fray performed for convention-goers.

_ "American Idol" alum Chris Daughtry was in the audience at a Rock the Vote concert at the city's opera house, which featured Jakob Dylan, NERD and Fall Out Boy.

_ During Fall Out Boy's set, Pete Wentz told the crowd: "We came all the way from Chicago, like somebody else you know." Wentz and Patrick Stump later said they learned that Joe Biden would be Obama's running mate while bowling with Diddy. And there's an even more personal connection: Wentz said his parents met while working for Biden. Wentz said his father told him before he left for Denver, "`When you bump into Biden, make sure you tell him that. He'll remember.' I'm like, 'Uh, that's not really how this works.'"
