Pete Wentz' New Year's Resolution

It's that time of year again where we think about what naughty things we're going to give up as the clock strikes midnight on January 1.

For Fall Out Boy bassist and recent father, Pete Wentz, that means staying away from "vices".

"My New Year's Resolution for 2009 is to remove vices from my life," he told Kerrang!.

"And by 'vices' I mean the pharmaceutical kind," he added. "I don't want my child growing up in that kind of environment."

Wise words Wentzy, wise words.

In related news, Fall Out Boy tour the UK in march. Dates are as follows:

March
05 Manchester Evening News Arena
06 London O2 Arena
07 Cardiff International Arena
08 Brighton Centre

John Legend performs at the Democratic convention
By RYAN PEARSON

After CNN aired a live performance of Legend's new song, "If You're Out There," from the floor of the Democratic National Convention, Blitzer promised to continue to interrupt the network's reporting or analysis for musical acts as good as Legend.

Legend was the most visible of the entertainers who flowed into Denver for the convention, which opened Monday. A choir backed him for the song that fits neatly with Barack Obama's campaign themes.

"We've been looking for the world to change," Legend sang. "If you're out there, sing along with me. Stand up and say it loud. Tomorrow's starting now."

Among other celebrities spotted on the first day of the convention:

_ Danny Glover, wearing a jacket over a Martin Luther King Jr. shirt, who talked about unions at a Creative Coalition event.

_ Kal Penn of the "Harold & Kumar" movies and the TV series "House," who worked for a good part of the day as a "delegate whip."

_ Cyndi Lauper was interviewed on the convention floor.

_ Spike Lee arrived at the VIP section of the Pepsi Center just before the first-night prime-time convention slot.

_ A short while later, the Creative Coalition delegation arrived, with Alan Cumming wearing a brown Obama shirt and Susan Sarandon sporting an Obama button. Also at the Pepsi Center after a day of Creative Coalition luncheons and gatherings: Anne Hathaway, Cumming, Tim Daly, Rachael Leigh Cook and Josh Lucas.

_ Robert Randolph & The Family Band and The Fray performed for convention-goers.

_ "American Idol" alum Chris Daughtry was in the audience at a Rock the Vote concert at the city's opera house, which featured Jakob Dylan, NERD and Fall Out Boy.

_ During Fall Out Boy's set, Pete Wentz told the crowd: "We came all the way from Chicago, like somebody else you know." Wentz and Patrick Stump later said they learned that Joe Biden would be Obama's running mate while bowling with Diddy. And there's an even more personal connection: Wentz said his parents met while working for Biden. Wentz said his father told him before he left for Denver, "`When you bump into Biden, make sure you tell him that. He'll remember.' I'm like, 'Uh, that's not really how this works.'"

This is from a gossip site, but it has been confirmed and it relates to a recent Meelikey post.

Pete and Ash's Wedding Still Creating Buzzzzz...

Pete Wentz has some wacky ideas when it comes to romance.

The Fall Out Boy rocker has shown his love for Ashlee Simpson by commissioning artist Nathan Sawaya to create a giant bumblebee for his new wife.

What the...?

The brightly colored creation measures 26" x 47" x 36" and is made from about 18,000 standard Lego bricks. Yes, 18,000!

"I was commissioned to create a bee,” Sawaya recently blogged on his website. “Why a bee? Because it is romantic of course. In Hindu myth, Kama, the god of love, has a bow and arrows, and the bow string is made up of bees. In the ancient Greek world the bee symbolized the soul because they migrated in swarms. And the Roman god of love, Cupid, is often pictured with bees or being stung.

“I made this bee for a boy who wanted to give his girl a special wedding gift,” Sawaya continues. “They are a fun couple as evidenced by their Alice in Wonderland themed wedding. And didn't Alice think she saw a bee in Through the Looking Glass? (Incidentally, she thought they were bees, but they turned out to be elephants. Alice wasn't the brightest child.)"

A rep for Wentz confirms he commissioned the piece for Simpson.

The bee took about a week to create in the artist’s Los Angeles studio and will be delivered to the newlyweds by early next month. A rep for Sawaya declined to reveal the cost.

Wentz blogged about Sawaya on his official site in late April. "He does," Wentz wrote, "some insane s--t."

One can only imagine what Wentz will be commissioning for their first wedding anniversary.
