Fall Out Boy had to abandon their record breaking feat of being the first band to play Antarctica, but now they're seriously contemplating a second try. The band was close to pulling the first-of-a-kind feat off, and they even had an official for the Guinness Book Of World Records there to certify it. After dragging a crew of 15, weather conditions forced the band out of their slot and they didn't have the resources to wait an additional week or so to pull it off.

At the time, Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz was bummed, but does he think the band will make another attempt at the record?

Pete Wentz On Failed Antarctica Trip

"I think so. I think the interesting thing is that when you make an attempt...it's boring to watch people win all the time. It was a bummer when it happened, but I think the great thing about it, the attempt, is that you keep trying and hopefully we'll do it again."

Fall Out Boy recently released their first live DVD/CD ****: Live In Phoenix, and the collection features a cover of Michael Jackson's Beat It.

Fall Out Boy Mania In Southern Chile; Antarctica Trip Postponed Due To Bad Weather

No flights are allowed in or out of the frozen continent on Tuesday, but Wednesday remains a possibility.

By James Montgomery

PUNTA ARENAS, Chile — Early Tuesday morning (March 25), Fall Out Boy got the bad news: Nasty weather conditions had canceled all flights in and out of Antarctica, meaning that their attempt to set a world record would have to wait for at least another day.

Let's start this one over.

According to D & E Entertainment:

Fall Out Boy will be holding premieres for ****-Live in Phoenix in the US on 30th March and the UK on 12th April. It's not clear at this stage whether the band will be in attendance, or if they'll be performing, but it's probably safe to say that if they make it to the UK, they'll try to squeeze in a UK show.

More news on this as we get it.

Fall Out Boy Will Play In Antarctica To Set World Record -- And MTV News Will Be There
March 25 show in a research facility gymnasium will make them the first band to play all seven continents in less than nine months.

Never let it be said that Fall Out Boy aren't making the absolute, total and complete most they can out of being a successful rock band.

According to FOB's management company, Crush, on March 25, the band will board a private jet in southern Chile for a 90-minute flight to Antarctica, set up in a gymnasium located on a research facility, rock out for the assembled team of scientists (and probably some penguins), and then enter the Guinness Book of World Records as the only band to play a concert on all seven continents in less than nine months.

Fall Out Boy To Play Antarctica/March 23 Venue Change

Fall Out Boy will be attempting to set a Guinness World Record for the first band to play all seven continents in a time frame under nine months. The band kicked off the record in Johannesburg, South Africa late last summer, then toured through Europe, Asia, Australia and North America last fall. The South American show will take place in Santiago Chile on March 23, followed up by King George Island in Antarctica on March 25, where they hope to receive the Guinness World Record. In addition to setting a world record, the band will be working closely with Greenpeace for the concert in Antarctica to raise awareness about global warming.

The March 23 show has moved from Victor Galpon Jara to the Teatro Teleton, a larger venue. Tickets purchased prior to the venue change will be honored at the Teatro Teleton with additional tickets now available here.
